Gene53 I had the same problem after the latest Mingle update and got rid of it by selecting “Show avatars” in Settings -> Discussions.

Gene53 NP & BTW, modify your style.css file (line 1044) so your avatars will line-up correctly in the profiles’ friends boxes.

Gene53 The above is a small fix for the Suffusion theme only. My avatars weren’t lining-up correctly and thanks to @cartpauj (Paul), problem solved.
